Synopsis:
Iliana focuses here on denouncing Decree 370. She does so by looking at her particular case, being the first person to which this spurious law was applied, and also those of colleagues. She leads the campaign “Yo No Pago la 370”.
Bio:
Iliana Hernández Cardosa is a journalist and activist. At 23 years old she left Cuba for Spain, where she became a prosthodontist, athletic trainer, web designer and community manager. In 2015 she participated in the Marathon des Sables, a 240 km survival ultramarathon through the Sahara desert. In 2013 she founded the political movement Somos más, the reason for her 2016 decision to repatriate. This same year she founded the audiovisual program Lentecubano. In 2017 she separated from Somos más. Currently she collaborates with CiberCuba Noticias. She was the first victim of Decree 370, suffering a fine and having her telephone and computer confiscated in January 2020. Despite being a Cuban and Spanish citizen, her travel has been regulated for the last two years due to her political activism.
