    Synopsis:

    From Madrid (Spain), Yanelis talks about her experience with the Movimiento San Isidro in Havana, and the story of the events that led her into urgent exile, as well as the struggle that she led against Decree 349, which led to the pausing of its application, although it remains in effect.

    Bio:

    Yanelys Núñez Leyva
    (Havana Cuba, 1989)

    Yanelys Núñez Leyva is an arts coordinator, researcher and activist. She is the co-author of the Museo de la Disidencia in Cuba, a platform that establishes spaces for dialogue and artistic creation. She was the organizer of the #00Bienal de La Habana, an action celebrated in 2018 due to the erroneous decision of the Ministry of Culture to postpone the 13th edition of the official Biennial. She has participated in international debate forums such as Creative Time and Forum 2000. After the signing of Decree 349, a law that criminalizes all cultural production on the island, she initiated together with other creators the campaign “Artistas Cubanxs en contra del Decreto 349,” which worked for the repeal of the decree through legal complaints, artistic actions and unauthorized pacific public protests. She has given workshops to share her tools for independent cultural production at conferences in Argentina, Chile, England, Czech Republic, among others.
