    Synopsis:

    Classic authoritarianisms constitute one of the most repeated forms of implementation of illiberal regimes. To debate its historical genesis and its fundamental features, we have invited the Spanish professor Franscisco Javier Rodríguez.


    Bio:

    Francisco Rodríguez Jiménez is a professor at the University of Salamanca and the University of Extremadura. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University (2012-2013) and a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at George Washington University, 2010-2012. His areas of concentration are: International Relations in the 20th century; American public diplomacy and the so-called Cultural Cold War (Spain-United States-Latin America).

    Among other publications, Rodríguez Jiménez has co-edited the following books in recent years: US public diplomacy and democratization in Spain. Sell democracy? Salazarist Portugal versus democracy; Cultural Diplomacy Strategies in an Interpolar World; University women in Spain and Latin America. He has also taught Postgraduate or Master's courses for other universities: Università degli studi di Bergamo; Estela Forest; Ohio Wesleyan; Colby University; University of Extremadura; UNED-Madrid; George Washington and Charles III University.
