    Synopsis:

    A conversation with the journalist Boris Luis Santa Coloma, the son of Reinaldo Boris Luis Santa Coloma, a member of M-26. Boris narrates his life experience and his ties to the upper echelons of power, his work as the personal translator of Fidel Castro and as a diplomat in East Germany, his personal relationship with Haydée Santamaría and his work as an independent journalist and human rights activist.

    Bio:

    Boris Luis Santa Coloma holds a graduate degree in International Relations and is a political analyst, communicator, translator, and the son of Reinaldo Boris Luis Santa Coloma. Based in Berlin, he is a committed human rights activist. As one of the voices of the Cuban opposition in Germany, he has propelled a variety of initiatives for the respect of civil rights and liberties. He witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall and was put on trial for advocating for the peaceful transition to democracy in Cuba. Boris fled to Germany, in exile, where as a radio journalist he informs Cuban audiences about experiences of the process of democratic transition in Eastern Europe. As a member of the International Society for Human Rights he advocates in Germany for freedom of religion in Iran and Eritrea, in addition to ceasing the trials against political opposition figures in China and Vietnam. With the Cuban NGO FLAMUR he organizes events to speak out against domestic violence in Central America, advocating for a program to help women who have suffered gender-based violence.
