    Synopsis:

    An important Cuban curator and protagonist of the early years of Cuban cultural advocacy comments on the genesis of cultural policy with an emphasis on the visual arts.


    Bio:

    Gerardo Mosquera is an independent critic and curator based out of Havana and Madrid, a consultant at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Holland and a member of the boards of various journals and international arts centers. An author of books and numerous essays and the cofounder of the Havana Biennial, he has been curator at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York, and artistic director of PHotoEspaƱa, Madrid. He has curated numerous biennels and international expositions around the world. He is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship.
