The poet and intellectual Néstor Díaz de Villegas speaks about his experiences with the repression of the Cuban government against those who dissented as a minor, his experience in prison and his exile in Miami. An overview that shares common ground with the experiences of dissenting artists, artivists and intellectuals on the island today.

Néstor Díaz de Villegas
(Cumanayagua, Cuba, 1956)
Néstor Díaz de Villegas is a poet, editor and essayist. He studied art, was incarcerated in Cuba, and emigrated to the United States in 1979. He has published several volumes of poetry, compiled in Buscar la lengua (2015). He was the founder of Cubista Magazine (2004-2006). His most recent book, De donde son los gusanos: Crónica de un regreso a Cuba luego de 37 años de exilio (2019), was published by Vintage Español. He lives in Los Ángeles, California.
