    Synopsis:

    A conversation with Ileana Álvarez González, poet, literary critic, essayist and feminist, who in 2018 was exiled from Cuba due to State Security´s harassment of her and her family. In this episode, our guest tells us about her editorial experience in Cuba and the escalation of the harassment she suffered after starting to work on feminist and other critical projects, such as the creation of the first Cuban feminist magazine, Alas Tensas, in 2016. She also talks to us about the challenges posed by exile to the continuity of the magazines she coordinates and to her own literary creation.

    Biografía:

    Poet, literary critic, essayist, feminist. Graduate en Filología Hispánica from the Universidad de las Villas in Santa Clara, Cuba. She worked as an editor and director of the art and literature magazine Videncia. In 2016 she founded the first Cuban feminist magazine, Alas Tensas. In 2018 she exiled to Madrid due to the severe harassment of State Security faced by her and her family. Together with her husband, who is also a writer, Francis Sánchez, she founded the publisher Deslinde. Currently, she resides in Madrid, continues directing Alas Tenas and is the editor of the magazine Arbol Invertido. She is the author of the books of poetry Oscura Cicatriz (1999), Escribir la noche (2010), and the anthology of Cuban poetry written by women Catedral sumergida (2014).
