    Synopsis:

    We spoke with Jorge Masetti, who continued the first interview we had with him in November 2021, where he shared his experience as a Cuban officer, his participation in the development of the armed struggle in the American continent, and his relationship with Toni and Patricio de La Guardia. On this occasion, Masetti offered more details about his training in Cuba, the operations he carried out in Latin America, mainly in Mexico and Nicaragua, and revealed details about his relationship with Commander Manuel Piñeiro.     Jorge Masetti

    Jorge Masetti was born in 1955 in Argentina, but grew up in Cuba. In 1964, his father, Ricardo Masetti, a friend of Che Guevara and founder of Prensa Latina, died. In 1974, as an agent of the Cuban espionage services, he began his activity on various fronts in Latin America, which continued uninterrupted until the infamous "Ochoa process", initiated in 1989 by Fidel Castro, fearing that the United States would reveal the evidence. of Cuba's involvement in drug and ivory trafficking. This process culminated in the death sentence of General Arnaldo Ochoa, a war hero in Africa, and Tony de la Guardia, as well as life imprisonment for Patricio de la Guardia, until then simple faithful executors of his orders. It is the case that Masetti was not only the trusted man of Patricio and Tony, but also family, being the husband of Ileana de la Guardia. In 1990 he went into exile in France, where he published in 1993 El furor y el delirio, which we published in an entirely revised and updated edition.
