    Synopsis:

    Conversation with the iconoclastic and multifaceted artist Raúl Alfonso, he reveals to us his treasure of experiences on theater and culture in Cuba since the eighties. Alfonso talks about the independent cultural spaces in Cuba in those years, his work as an independent theater and film director, his extensive work as a playwright and acting teacher. He tells anecdotes about censorship and political persecution for making a theater committed to its reality. He talks about the inheritance that Virgilio Piñera bequeathed. He ends by telling about his life in exile, how he has had to reinvent himself in multiple ways. An important testimony for Cuban culture, memories of a man who looks at reality with the same depth as art.

    Bio:

    Raúl Alfonso (Cuba, 1966)

    Bachelor of Performing Arts from the Higher Institute of Art of Havana (ISA), specializing in Theater and Dramaturgy. He has worked as an actor, adviser and stage director and as Professor of Interpretation at the National School of Theater of Havana, the ISA, the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños and in various academies, circles of magicians and universities in Mexico and Spain. He has collaborated with comments and articles, among others, with the theater magazine Tablas and with the art and literature publication El espejo del perro (Madrid). He has directed and written numerous plays, some of which have been published in magazines and anthologies and performed in Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, the United States, and Spain. He has independently made several short films in Havana, Mexico and Madrid.
