Ricardo Figueredo
(Havana, 1972)

Ricardo Figueredo is a filmmaker with a marked emphasis on the investigation of neglected social problems. In 2011, his documentary Despertar was a bold approach to alternative culture, specifically to the field of anti-establishment hip-hop, generating controversy about creative freedom in the world of cinema and the role of the institution regarding aesthetic questions in young Cuban cinema.
