    Cuba, a country with a homophobic and sexist past, is removed by the 1959 Revolution. They wanted to build the “new man,” but homosexuals did not fit into that concept. Article 68, which proposes equal marriage, divides the country in 2018. Six homosexual couples show their lives, and together with members of the LGTBIQ community, the population and civic and religious institutions, they participate in the constitutional referendum. Two years later, the family code will have the last word...

    Karel Ducasse Manzano
    (Santiago de Cuba, 1979)

    Karel Ducasse Manzano is a director of documentaries and cartoons and a graduate in Audiovisual Communication from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) and the International Filmmakers Workshop, New York Film Academy (NYFA, 2015), and has taken classes with filmmakers such as James Pasternak, Tony Richmond, Paul Brown, Enrique Colina, and Jorge Luis Sánchez. He has received several awards for his audiovisual work, including: Special Jury Prize for Documentary at the VI Gibara International Poor Film Festival; winner of the Context in culture scholarship for his documentary Habana paisaje circular, winner of the GoCuba-World cinema Amsterdam Fund 2018, with the documentary Futuro paraíso. His documentary Zona de silencio is distributed by Icarus Films and Americas Media Initiative. He was Assistant Coordinator of the Caribbean Talents Incubator, Havana Workshop 2019. He is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC), and the Cuban Audiovisual Association (ACA).

    Raúl Escobar Delgado
    (Havana, 1966)
    Raúl Escobar Delgado is a visual artist and filmmaker. He studied a Diploma in Humanities at the Cristóbal Colón University in Veracruz, Mexico; later, he was a juror and teacher. He has had more than 30 exhibitions in Cuba and Europe, has participated in numerous visual arts exhibitions. Since 2003 he has ventured into video art and cinema. He assumes the co-direction in the fiction feature film Antes que llegue el ferry, premiered at the Warsaw International Film Festival, and presented in Gijón, Málaga, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Gibara, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam and New York. He is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).
