    A non-profit organization established to empower Cuban men and women with free information, promote the values of freedom and entrepreneurship based on the example of the thousands who are fighting in defense of social and economic freedoms, the rights to culture, art, and the creation of common cultural goods for Cuba.

    Eliecer Jiménez Almeida
    (Vertientes, Camagüey, Cuba, 1983)

    Eliecer Jiménez Almeida is a filmmaker, video artist, and a graduate in Journalism. He was certified in Documentary Film Studies at the EICTV San Antonio de los Baños in 2012, a workshop instructor for the Sundance Institute Documentary Program in 2016, and in 2009 he founded ikaik films, a project dedicated to producing and developing experimental films. His film Persona was screened at MoMA in the USA, and by the Ludwig Forum Aachen in Germany. Usufructo received the EICTV Special Award at the 10th Gibara International Poor Film Festival in Cuba in 2012. La faz de las aguas received the Short Film Award at the Climate Change Film Festival in China in 2017. En un paquete de espaguetis was selected for the Reina Sofía Prize in Spain in 2011. His work has been shown in the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, China, India, Argentina. He has been a visiting filmmaker at Yale University, New York University, The City University of New York, University of Miami, Florida International University, Rutgers University and Georgia Tech. All of his work has been done outside of the Cuban film industry. He is currently studying a Master in Journalism + Media at Florida International University (FIU).
