    Dean Luis Reyes is a Cuban critic and professor with extensive experience as a scholar of Cuban and international cinema. He has been editor of the film sections in various Cuban and foreign cultural magazines, including Altercine, from the Inter Press Service-IPS agency in Havana, República de imágenes, in OnCuba magazine, among others. His work has been published in specialized magazines and anthologies in France, Spain, the United States, Brazil and Puerto Rico. He has been a lecturer at various universities, including Rice University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Florida International University, and was on the faculty of the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV, Cuba) and the Altos de Chavón School (Dominican Republic). He has published the books Contra el documento (Editorial Cauce, Cuba, 2005), La mirada bajo asedio, El documental reflexivo cubano (Editorial Oriente, Cuba, 2012), La forma realizada. El cine de animación (Ediciones ICAIC, Havana, 2015) and Werner Herzog: la búsqueda de la verdad extática (Nobuko, Buenos Aires, 2016).

    Currently he lives outside Cuba, and continues to be an editor or assiduous author of critical texts published in various media related to cinematography. In 2018, he coordinated the exhibition Cuban Cinema under Censorship, at MoMA. He has become an expert on the evolution of film censorship in Cuba. He is a co-creator, together with Tania Bruguera, Ricardo Figueredo and Marta María Ramírez, of the PM Fund for Cuban audiovisuals.
